Clearing the building siteWeek 1
The construction of our new 8 classroom block is now underway. On Monday morning we arrived at school to find construction signs, barriers, fencing and blue netting around the building site. A site office and digger have also made this area their new home.
The digger has been busy cutting up concrete and clearing the site of the rubble the was left behind after the two classrooms were removed during the Xmas holidays. This extremely noisy work made us appreciate how far Room 19 is from the construction site.
Wooden profiles and orange spray paint mark out the new building's outline and a large truck delivered metal which has been spread around to form a good base for the next stage. On Thursday afternoon we thought we were having a fire drill when the alarm bells began and continued to do so for quite some time. We found out later that a digger had cut through some wiring.
Report constructed by Georgia L, Aaron, Emily, Elijah, Tori and Tyla of Room 19.
