Glossary of terms for assessment at Beachlands School
Due to the sometimes overwhelming array of specific language and acronyms in education, we felt a glossary for parents would be useful. Please contact us if you would like us to add to this list.

| BPA |
B – Basic P-Proficient A-Advanced
Where a child is achieving in relation to the curriculum levels
Basic- beginning of curriculum level
Proficient – middle of curriculum level
Advanced – end of curriculum level
i.e. 3B – Curriculum level 3 Basic, means child is achieving at the beginning of curriculum level 3. |

Represents the level or reading age at which a child is currently reading at. |

PM Benchmark reading assessment
Assesses students from years 1-4 in reading fluency and comprehension. A reading age is given at each level.
