During Term 1 we are also working together in groups on many different environmental projects.
* Some students are taking part in the BP Zoo Challenge, where they have to design an enrichment toy for one of the zoo animals.
* A number of groups will be designing and creating giant insects from a variety of materials. These could possibly be entered in a competition at the Botanic Gardens in March.
* Another project is to create a herb garden outside the LPC. They will learn about what is in season and will design a raised garden to plant their seedlings in once they have started to grow. They will also be able to do a little cooking this Term.
* Two other gardening groups will be taking charge of the Year 7 and 8 veggie garden in Kaiawa Gardens. They will also be able to cook with what we grow there.
* We are lucky enough to be working with an engineer who will be helping a group of Room 18 students design a fitness trail for the top field.
* Other projects include a new mural for the sports shed, three more panels for the poetry murals on the top field, creating costumes and props for this year's production, to be held in Term 3, and designing and creating a marble run for the Junior students to use at break times.
