Welcome to Room 12.
TERM 3
Once again we have a very full and interesting term planned.
Everyone in the class returned from a much enjoyed holiday and ready to work.
An outline of our term is as follows:
*Writing- narrative writing is the focus. Students will focus on different aspects of narrative writing to develop eg. character description, setting the scene, creating a problem. However their assessment will be based on their writing of a character description.
* Reading - students are developing their inference skills by using prior knowledge and different sources of information to base their answers on
.
* Spelling - is an ongoing challenge for many. The plan is to concentrate on the errors made in their writing and to study word building in chunks.
* Maths - this term will focus on algebra, fractions and decimals. Many of the students set goals to improve their basic facts knowledge and to work more competently with fractions and decimals.
* Learning Pathways: Funky Fungus is the title of this term's topic. Students will attempt to answer the question "Is Fungus Essential For Life?" Students will plan a fair test to study how fungus grows, grow a mini mushroom farm at school and use their knowledge of fungus and micro-organisms to create a sustainable system in the school environment.
So Room 12 is a great place to be.
