Learning in the Koru Team
The first three years at school lays the platform on which all other learning is built. During these years children are learning the fundamental literacy and mathematical skills required to access the broader curriculum in later years together with the skills required to be life-long learners; they are supported to know how to learn, where they are at in their learning and their next steps. In addition, students are learning the importance of collaboration and are explicitly taught the skills needed to learn cooperatively with others.
The better the relationship between home and school the better our children learn; we encourage you to be actively involved and your child’s teacher will let you know how you can help at home. We need our children to continue grow their love of learning; you can support us with this by making connections between what is learnt at school and the wider world and ensuring that all learning experiences at home are enjoyable and fun; please read with and to your child daily and play games to support their learning.
Lines of Communication
1. At Beachlands School we believe in talking directly to the person that can solve the problem. This means that in most cases initial contact is an appointment with your child’s Teacher.
2. If there is no resolution then you need to make an appointment with the Team Leader.
3. After this point you may need to make an appointment with an Associate Principal.
4. At this stage if any further action is required they may refer you to the Principal or the SENCO depending on the action required.
